Your claim, handled in plain language

The paperwork is the part most people dread, and it comes at the worst possible moment. We inspect the damage, document what we find, build the scope, and deal with the adjuster — so you are making decisions instead of relaying messages.

Our part

What we take off your plate

We work with any carrier and any adjuster. There is no panel to be on and no list you have to choose from.

Inspect and document it

The things that decide a claim are rarely visible from the doorway — moisture inside a wall cavity, soot on the back of a cabinet, the extent of the char behind the drywall. We record what we find, room by room, before anything is touched.

Prepare an itemized scope

A room-by-room scope of work with quantities and line items — the format an adjuster expects to receive, rather than a single lump-sum figure they will have to argue with.

Meet your adjuster on site

We walk the property with them, point out what we found, and answer their questions directly. An assessment nobody was present for is an assessment that gets argued over later.

File supplements when they are needed

Initial scopes frequently miss damage that only becomes visible once the walls are open or the ceiling is down. When that happens we document it and file a supplement rather than absorbing it or leaving you to raise it.

Tell you when not to claim

If the damage is minor enough that filing a claim costs you more in premium than the repair costs in cash, we will say so. A job we do today and a customer who comes back is worth more to us than a claim.

Tell you the truth about coverage

We can explain what a scope of work says. We cannot tell you what your policy covers, and we will not pretend otherwise — that is your adjuster’s call and your agent’s job.

Have these ready

Six things that speed a claim up

None of it is required before you call us — we can help you find most of it. But if you have it to hand, the claim moves faster.

  • Your policy number and the name of your insurance company
  • Your claim number, if a claim has already been opened
  • The date of the event that caused the damage, if you know it
  • The name and contact details of your adjuster, if one has been assigned
  • Any photographs you took yourself before anything was moved
  • A note of anything you have already spent — a hotel, a tarp, a temporary repair
Talk it through

What a good restoration scope looks like

  • Room by room, not one lump sum — so you can see what each area needs.
  • Cleanup and rebuild priced separately, so you can see both halves of the job.
  • Photographs and moisture readings of what was found, taken before anything moved.
  • Drying equipment, containment and deodorizing named, not assumed.
  • Contents inventoried before anything is boxed, cleaned or discarded.
  • Anything found once the walls are open added by supplement, in writing.

Where we are not the experts

We are not your insurance agent and we are not a public adjuster. We will not tell you what your policy covers as though it were a fact, and we will not advise you on whether to accept a settlement. What we will do is give you the documentation to make those decisions with, and explain anything in a scope of work you do not understand.

Before you sign anything

You are allowed to take your time

After a fire or a flood, contractors sometimes arrive uninvited and quickly. You have rights in that situation, and it is worth knowing them.

You are not obligated to hire a company that knocks on your door, however fast they arrived.

Never sign a contract you have not read, or one presented as an emergency formality.

You are entitled to a written, itemized scope before work begins.

You can get a second opinion on any scope of work, including ours.

A contractor should never ask you to sign over your claim or your rights to them.

If something feels rushed, it is. Tell them you will call, and take the number.

24-hour emergency response

A straight answer and a written scope.

We come out, document what we found, and put the work and the cost in writing — and we deal with your adjuster, so you are making decisions instead of relaying messages.

Start here

Tell us where the claim stands

Whether you have a claim number or have not called your insurer yet, we can start from wherever you are.

  • No claim opened yet — we inspect and document so it starts on the right footing.
  • Claim open, no work started — we prepare a scope and speak to your adjuster.
  • Adjuster has been out — we review the scope and file a supplement if it is short.
  • Work already started badly — we will look and tell you honestly what is sound.
